About the project:
Aprotec Engineering was tasked with comprehensive automation of a multi-product dairy production facility in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan).
The production facility is designed to manufacture a wide range of products — milk, kefir, yogurt, sour cream, cream, cottage cheese, mozzarella, ice cream and other dairy products. Such a range required the integration of a large amount of process equipment from various international manufacturers into a single control system.
As part of the project, a control system based on Siemens PLC, HMI and SCADA was developed and commissioned, providing centralized control of all production processes.
A separate engineering task was the development and commissioning of an automatic in-line milk standardization unit with a capacity of 3 t/h. The work included commissioning and customer personnel training.
The process complex includes equipment from the following manufacturers:
Milk preparation and processing: Inoxpa (milk powder dissolution unit), GEA (separator), HPM (homogenizers 3000 and 500 l/h).
Ice cream production: Technogel (freezer), Technogel (ice cream filler).
Packaging: Galdi (cup forming), Galdi («house» packaging).
Mozzarella production: MilkyLab (forming unit), Henkovac (tray sealing).
Cottage cheese production: cottage cheese mixer, Fasa (packaging machine for foil-packed cottage cheese).
Engineering systems: FIC (ice water generator), KSB (ice water pump station), ICI (steam boiler unit), Kaeser (air compressor).
A key feature of the project was the integration of equipment from various international manufacturers into a single control system. Heterogeneous process units were combined into a common architecture while preserving the functionality of each piece of equipment.
The control system is built on Siemens PLC with visualization via Siemens HMI panels and a centralized SCADA system. → Data exchange is organized over industrial networks PROFINET and PROFIBUS DP using Siemens distributed I/O.
As part of the project, an automatic in-line milk standardization unit with a capacity of 3 t/h was implemented — one of the key engineering tasks ensuring consistent quality of the finished product.
