Butter Production Automation — Hochland

  • Butter Production Automation — Hochland

  • Software Development and Modernization of the Control System for the Butter Production Shop

    Russia

  • Branch:

    Food industry

  • Year:

    2026

  • About the project:

    Initial Task and Project Constraints

    Aprotec Engineering was tasked with software development and commissioning for the butter production shop at the operating Hochland Rus facility in Belinsky, Penza region.

    The project covered several interconnected process sections, so it was necessary to ensure their coordinated operation within a single control system.

    The project included:

    raw cream section;

    pasteurization section;

    high-fat cream section;

    butter maker section;

    buttermilk section;

    CIP station circuit section.

    One of the key conditions of the project was to perform the work at an operating production facility without stopping the main process. New functions and changes had to be implemented in such a way as to preserve the operability of the existing system.

    Modernization of an operating production facility without stopping the main process

System Architecture and Customer Standards

The project software was developed in accordance with Hochland Rus corporate standards. This ensured a unified approach to implementing the control system → and integrating the developed functionality into the existing enterprise infrastructure.

A key feature of the project was the integration of the new software into the existing client-server architecture of the operating facility.

  • software development according to Hochland Rus standards;
  • integration of new functionality into the existing client-server architecture;
  • automation of interconnected process sections of the shop;
  • implementation of CIP section control within the project;
  • commissioning of the developed software at the operating facility.

Working within the existing architecture required taking into account the already established principles of system design, interfaces, and enterprise requirements. Aprotec Engineering performed the necessary changes and software expansion → while preserving the overall architecture of the facility.

For Aprotec Engineering, automation of an operating enterprise means not only developing new software, but also correctly integrating it into the customer's existing control system and production processes.
New functionality is integrated into the existing system rather than created as a separate isolated solution

Project Results and Benefits for the Customer

As a result of the project, Hochland Rus received extended control system functionality for the butter production shop, integrated into the existing infrastructure of the operating enterprise.

  • Software was developed for the butter production shop.
  • Interconnected process sections of production were automated.
  • The project included the raw cream, pasteurization, high-fat cream, butter maker, buttermilk, and CIP sections.
  • The software was developed in accordance with Hochland Rus corporate standards.
  • The new functionality was integrated into the existing client-server architecture.
  • Commissioning was performed at the operating production facility.
  • Modernization and expansion of the system were carried out without stopping the main production.
  • A system was created with the potential for further development and remote support. →

Expanding an Operating Production Facility Without Stopping

The project demonstrates Aprotec Engineering's experience in modernizing operating production systems, where new functions must be integrated into the existing architecture and implemented without stopping the main process.
