Aprotec Engineering, together with its engineering partner, successfully implemented a project to modernize and expand the control system at a whey processing plant. The customer, who had been operating a European thickening and drying line for over 8 years, decided to increase production efficiency by implementing modern automation solutions.

What has been done?
Modernize the automated process control system without stopping production by integrating three new units:
- Microfiltration (capacity 12 m³/h);
- Ultrafiltration (6 m³/h);
- Nanofiltration (3 m³/h).
- Control system upgrade:
- Software adjustment for three PLC Siemens S7-300 317-2 PN/DP;
- SCADA system update Siemens WinCC;
- Change of pipeline routes for new process stages.
- Increase of line capacity by adding filtration units;
- Automation of processes from micro- to nanofiltration;
- Production whey protein concentrate (WPC 80) while maintaining European quality standards.
