  • About the project:

    Initial Task and Project Constraints

Aprotec Engineering was tasked with automating a cheese packaging machine in collaboration with our partners in Belarus. The project included electrical design, PLC and HMI software development, and commissioning.

    Key constraints were:

    • Machine had to be ready for operation immediately after mechanical installation at the customer site.
    • The control system had to be flexible to support different packaging recipes.
    • Integration with remote support from our service department to minimize downtime.

The project required close coordination between software development, electrical design, and production stages executed by our partner.

The project was completed taking into account all technological constraints, and the packaging machine was ready for operation at the customer site immediately after mechanical installation.

System Architecture and Value of a Standardized Approach

The packaging machine control system was developed based on PLC and HMI with recipe logic for flexible operation. The focus was on standardization and predictability—this facilitates integration into the customer’s centralized automation system and ensures future scalability.

Using standardized control modules provides:

  • Flexibility — operational modes and recipes can be adjusted without rewriting base control logic.
  • Rapid deployment — commissioning was carried out at the partner’s site, so the machine is ready to operate immediately after installation.
  • Reliability — standardized procedures reduce errors and minimize downtime.
  • Maintainability — remote support ensures efficient operation and quick response to production needs.
  • Scalability — ready for integration into other lines and future functional expansion.
A standardized approach guarantees predictable system behavior and long-term protection of the customer’s investment.

Project Results and Customer Impact

  • Developed and implemented a stable control system for the packaging machine with recipe logic.
  • The machine is ready for operation at the customer site immediately after mechanical installation.
  • Remote support connection minimizes downtime and provides rapid response to production tasks.
  • The system is easily scalable and ready for integration into the customer’s centralized automation system.
  • Transparent monitoring of technological parameters and equipment status is provided.

Customer investment protected for years to come

Thanks to a flexible control architecture and standardized PLC/HMI modules, the customer received an industrial solution that is easy to maintain, scale, and develop without production risk.
